Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his home with volunteering in the community. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football alongside three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. For three seasons as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service included ten hours per week of volunteer time in college. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. He then began his career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993 he was appointed assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
