Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946, into a low-income family, with twelve kids later on, realized early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Prior to learning how to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own music. The first guitar she received was gifted to her at the age of eight. She began singing in an Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. She recorded her first album during the same year Gold Band Records, a small independent label. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in high school but she wanted to perform on a larger stage. On the 14th of March, 1964, following her graduation from high-school her family moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show needed an additional singer around this time. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. However, it wasn't until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her individual records including Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to the top spot at No. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
